The challenge for this project was to create a dynamic music video featuring a contemporary dance led performance with only two shots. This required weeks of meticulous planning and rehearsals, to organise both the dance choreography and also the camera movements. This was one of the few times where the execution couldn’t be saved in post, requiring full focus and continual review and refinement whilst shooting.
The decision to shoot long continuous shots was taken to remove the gloss incorporated into most music videos, instead opting to highlight and focus on the raw human emotion on display. When consulting with Sebastian during the concept phase, he remarked about how personal the song was to him and how closely it mirrors how he felt in previous situations. The song is full of raw emotions, so it felt appropriate to strip back any tricks or flashy cuts and to place the feelings conveyed in the song on centre stage.
